Na I’a Ono E is a Hawaiian children’s song that speaks of seven delicious reef fish and their distinguishing characteristics. It has been reinterpreted as paper puppets by Ho’oulunonalani, a Kanaka ‘Oiwi, paper engineer, product designer, and educator.

Ho’o has designed projects for clients including Disney, Apple TV, LG, Kiehl’s, Target, TJ Maxx, Clixo, and Lovepop. She has taught art and design studios at Rhode Island School of Design, Parsons School of Design, and Pratt Institute and is currently an Assistant Professor of Design at Lehigh University. In addition to this paper puppet series, Ho’o is working on two ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi pop-up book series with Kamehameha Publishing and ʻike kūpuna toys with Ka ʻUmeke Kāʻeo.

Ho’o holds an interdisciplinary BS in architecture and mechanical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a MFA in furniture design from Rhode Island School of Design.
